University of Bolton

At the University of Bolton we are a community of professionals committed to developing our students for their professional lives.

With a student body of around 9,000 you will get the best of all worlds at Bolton- learning at a university where you will be welcomed and treated as an individual, in a thriving town, that was ranked the second best town to study in, by Locallife.co.uk

‘In Bolton…students are offered one of the best blends of work, play and culture.’

Our teaching quality has consistently won the highest ratings possible from the Government’s quality control agency and we have professional accreditation for more than 30 of our teaching programmes.

WHY CHOOSE THE UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON?

Ask our students and they will tell you it’s the high levels of support, in and out of academic study, that makes the University of Bolton stand out.

Whatever course you choose we are committed to you as an individual. Giving you the best start for your professional future is at the heart of all we do. Our excellent teaching and student facilities are centred around a helpful and stimulating environment. Our staff are highly qualified and experienced and are your key to a successful career.

HIGH EXPECTATIONS

At the University of Bolton we have big ambitions – for you and for ourselves. Our contribution to learning in Bolton traces back over 150 years. We became the University of Bolton in 2005, but we have a proven track record delivering and awarding our own degree programmes for more than a decade, with more than 70% of our students coming from the North West.

We believe learning can transform lives, transform communities and we are proud of our achievements in helping individuals and communities achieve.

GREAT RELATIONSHIPS WITH EMPLOYERS

What is going to give you the edge with your future employers?

Hands-on knowledge of your profession is going to give you a flying start when it comes to securing your first job on your career ladder. That’s why relationships with employers are so important to us.

Practical, professional training built into University of Bolton courses gives Bolton graduates a distinct advantage in the workplace. Many are exposed to new employment opportunities by working on ‘live’ projects for businesses during their study, or through course related placements. The relevance of Bolton programmes are maintained through our ongoing work with employers such as Alfred McAlpine, Marks & Spencer, Network Rail, the NHS and Reebok.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS

New Students’ union and Social Learning Zone

The University of Bolton has invested £2.5 million in creating new Students’ Union and student social learning zone, in the centre of our Deane Campus site.

The new facilities are set to open in September 2008 and when completed will cover floor space equivalent to the size of a football pitch (approx 2000sq m)

University Sports Clinic

The University of Bolton has opened a state-of-the-art Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic – offering professional services to the whole community. The clinic, specialising in musculoskeletal injury, sports science analysis and massage, and is open to external customers as well as university staff and students.

The clinic will also act as a training ground for Sports Rehabilitation undergraduate students who will work in the centre supervised by the clinicians.

The Sports and Spinal Injury Clinic is next to the university Sports Centre and site of the new £10.6 million swimming pool, sports and health care complex die to be built in partnership with Bolton Council and Bolton Primary Care Trust.

The Innovation Factory

A new University of Bolton facility for businesses as well as students, The Innovation Factory, officially opened in July 2008.
