What should I do with the Clearing Passport ?

If you find a course you are interested in and the university or college is keen to accept you, you will need to complete your Clearing Passport and give it to that university or college for them to decide whether to offer you a place or not.

Do not send your Clearing Passport unless a member of the admissions staff at a university or college asks you to.

You can post it

If you post the Clearing Passport you will need to send it first class mail and enclose a first-class stamped self addressed envelope so that the university or college can return the Clearing Passport to you if you are unsuccessful.

You can deliver the Clearing Passport in person

If you deliver the Clearing Passport to the university or college in person, you can use this as a chance to look around and find out more about the university, their courses, accommodation and facilities.

A university or college may circulate your Clearing Passport to other departments if it cannot offer you a place on your chosen course. This could delay the return of your Clearing Passport to you. If you do not want to be considered for vacancies in other departments, say so clearly in a covering letter when you send in or take in your Clearing Passport.

Do not send your Clearing Passport to UCAS or Aimhigher.

What if I receive an offer of a place ?

After submitting your Clearing Passport if you receive an offer of a place you should contact the university or college, stating whether you accept or decline the place.

If you accept the place you will be committed to taking up that place and you cannot seek another place elsewhere. Your Clearing Passport will be kept by the university or college and not returned to you.

If you decline the place the university or college will return your Clearing Passport to you so that you can apply to other institutions. If the university or college cannot make you an offer it will return your Clearing Passport immediately. If it does not, please contact them to ensure you get your Clearing Passport back quickly.
