How good does my English need to be?

English Language requirements

Most universities require English GCSE grade C or above. However, there is a range of other qualifications that universities will accept instead. Acceptable other qualifications include:

• IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) average score of 6 or above

• Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)

• Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE).

There are many other acceptable qualifications and you should contact the university for details of the minimum acceptable level of proficiency they require.

Some universities offer courses for those students whose first language is not English.
