If I leave my family, how will I make new friends?

Many people find starting university a real challenge, no matter what their background or experience. If you move away from home, it can feel strange to leave your family and friends behind. But everyone will be in the same boat and you will soon meet other people and make new friends. There are plenty of clubs, the Students' Union, sporting activities, religious groups, and social events where you will find people with similar interests.

On the other hand, you may not want to leave home, or perhaps you cannot leave because of other commitments. If you decide to live at home while attending a university, you can certainly still get involved in activities and events, but this is your choice. If you choose to study through distance learning, you will spend most of your time at home.
