What makes a Foundation Degree different ?

What makes a Foundation Degree different ?

It is a work-related, higher education qualification designed together with employers.

It enables you to earn and learn at the same time.

It will equip you with both practical skills and useful academic knowledge that you will need to succeed in the workplace, today and in the future.

You will receive the specialist technical knowledge and skills needed at associate professional and higher technician level.

What are the entry requirements for a foundation degree?

There are no set entry requirements. Its up to the institution offering the course to decide if you are eligible.

Entry requirements are flexible. If you have no formal qualifications but do have some previous work experience, it may be taken into account but check first with the institution, because some courses have specific requirements (like specific numeracy and literacy levels or a basic knowledge of the subject)

How long will a Foundation Degree take?

A full time course takes two years.

Part time and distance learning courses will vary, but are usually the equivalent of two years full-time study or three years part-time study.

Contact your chosen institution to find out more details about study options and times.

How can I find out more?

Contact your chosen institution for more details about application and admission to their foundation degree courses.

If you live in Greater Manchester you can e-mail a qualified adviser and ask any questions about progression on to Higher Education.
