Looked After children - financial support

There is a range of different financial packages available to support looked after children, especially for accommodation.

In all cases you need to contact your local authority to find out what is available in your area.

Financial support for looked after children is likely to be additional to the Higher Education Grant and university bursaries.

Care Leaver's Grant

If you were in care just before you started your course, or when you were 16 years old, you may get extra financial help with paying for accommodation. This is only applicable if you are under 21 on the first day of your course.

The Frank Buttle Trust "Grants for Students and Trainees Scheme"

offers young people from a care background; grants, school fees and other financial support to assist their entry into higher education courses.

To apply for a grant or for more information about how the Trust might be able to help, you can contact:-
