Financial support for Part-time students

Part-time students on a low income who are working and studying for a higher education qualification may be eligible for some financial support. A non-repayable, means tested grant is available for part-time students earning less than £21,000 per annum. The grant has two components - A fee grant of up to £575 and a course grant of up to £250.

The fee grant is paid directly to the institution providing the Higher Education course and the course grant is paid directly to the student to help pay for books, travel and other course costs.

To find out more about support for part-time students contact your Local Authority or look at the DfES student financial support website at http://www.dfes.gov.uk/studentsupport or ring the DfES Information Line on 0800 731 9133 and ask about Financial support for part-time students.
