Open University fees

The cost of studying with the Open University is calculated differently from that of other universities. Students pay fees for each course they study. Modular courses are added up to complete a degree courses. Prices range from about £100 for short courses to about £2000 for longer and advanced courses. To calculate the cost of studying with the Open University, it is important that you look at the fees for each course as described in the prospectus.

The Open University prospectus also gives details of other costs such as travelling to tutorials, which are optional. Some courses have residential schools, others may require you to have access to a television, radio, computer or video recorder.

The Open University operates a Budget Account scheme that offers students the facility to pay their fees in instalments over the year.

Open University students on a low income may be eligible for grants to help pay course fees, meet the cost of books and cover the cost of travel. Some courses offer financial awards from the Open University.

If you are a student with the Open University they can assess whether you qualify for a grant. For more details you would need to phone the Open University on 01908 653411 or e-mail them at reg-fees@open.ac.uk

You can find out what financial support is available for OU students from their website at http://www.open.ac.uk
