Teacher training incentives

Apply for funding from your Local Education Authority if you are going to do initial teacher training (ITT) whether you are studying full-time or part-time.

Trainee teachers will get some help with their fees as, in addition to the training bursary, a grant of up to £2,700 will be available from your LEA, of which £1,200 is not means-tested. You may also be eligible for further financial support from your training provider.

Postgraduate teacher trainees in England are paid a modest salary which does not affect any other entitlement to student support.

For those studying 'shortage subjects' additional funding is also availble.

Further information on teacher training can be found at the Training and Development Agency for Schools website at  ..http://www.tda.gov.uk
