What other costs should I think about?

You will have living costs for the time of your study, so the length of a course is something to consider when you are making your decisions. Living costs will vary depending on where you live and your lifestyle.

Typical weekly spending (full-time student on three year degree course)

Rent £77.30

Books £8.20

Supermarket £18.40

Going Out £10.60

Buying Clothes £11.10

Transport £12.30

Utility bills £14.30

Telephone bills £9.00

Eating out £11.60

Drink £15.40

Cigarettes £13.90

Weekly total  £202.10

If the course includes time abroad, you will have to manage your finances to cover those expenses. You might get extra funding for some courses where you spend time in Europe, but you should check that your financial support covers your time abroad.
