This is the period when A level results are published. Students find out if they have got the full-time place they want. If not, they can go through the Clearing process to find an alternative place. The UCAS vacancy information service starts on 14th August 2008. There is a lot of information in the newspapers, on teletext, and on websites about the places that have not been filled. Applying through Clearing can be a frantic business - work fast to be sure of a place !

If you have your full-time place sorted out, there are other things to do. Accommodation has to be arranged if you are going to live away from home; student loans and grants have to be organised and signed up for through your Local Authority. This is a busy time of year for students who are about to go to university.

For part-time courses starting soon, it may not be too late to apply. Contact the university you are interested in now.

Clearing may still have some places for full-time courses in the early half of this month.

20th September 2008 is the last date for Clearing applications for full-time courses starting in 2008. It is the last date for applications for 2008 entry full-time courses through UCAS.

For part-time courses, ask now about places still available for this year. Late applications are often more easily accepted for part-time courses than for full-time courses.

For applications to start a full-time course in Autumn 2009, begin to complete your UCAS form now, so that you have plenty of time to send it to your referee.

UCAS accept applications between 1st September 2008 and January 2009 for full-time courses starting in Autumn 2009.

If you are thinking of applying for a part-time course starting in 2009, contact the university directly for information and application forms.
